Chapter 1 Writing on a Quiet Sunday Afternoon
I’m writing this blog on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday, I visited Pokémon Center Fukuoka and Yodobashi Camera near Hakata Station.
Because Pokémon is part of my daily life sourcing, distribution, selling I get to see the “real side” of the market more often than most people.
Whether you live in Tokyo or Osaka, the basics are the same.
But a place like Fukuoka not a major reseller battlefield actually makes it easier to find new packs.
If you enjoy the “hunt,” Fukuoka’s convenience stores are honestly a great playground.
Chapter 2 Fukuoka Slowly Turns Christmas-Colored
Christmas season has begun in Japan.
In front of JR Hakata Station stands a massive Christmas tree that glows with LED lights at night.
I visited during the day, so I missed the illumination, but the night view is spectacular surrounded by stalls selling hot wine, beer, warm sake, and good food.
On weekends, the place gets unbelievably crowded.
Fukuoka is known as “the gateway to Kyushu.”
Tourists from overseas, business travelers, and people from all over Kyushu pass through here constantly.
Just watching the crowd feels like observing a hundred different stories unfolding in front of you.
Chapter 3 Pokémon Center Fukuoka: Easy Access, Always Busy
Pokémon Center Fukuoka is located in the building next to Hakata Station,
so access by train is perfect.
If you drive, the affiliated parking lots offer one hour free if you spend ¥3,000 ($19) or more.
I usually go by car, and because station-area parking is expensive, that free hour is a lifesaver.
Since I went around noon on Saturday, the Pokémon Center was already extremely crowded.
They had an entry restriction in place, and I waited around 20 minutes.
Looking at the people in line:
- Asian tourists: about 40%
- Japanese locals: about 40%
- Others (U.S., Europe, etc.): about 20%
Fukuoka is close to Korea and China, and LCC flights are cheap,
so it’s especially popular among young travelers from Asia.
And unlike Tokyo’s big electronics stores,
I didn’t spot any of those “classic reseller types”
you know, the ones you can identify just by the atmosphere（笑）
Chapter 4 Yesterday’s Reddit Experience
(Where the Antis Come to Play)
Yesterday on Reddit, I shared a post about resellers and fraud—
specifically the idea of
“what really happens behind the scenes”
and
“how crime and psychology can influence market prices.”
But then…
apparently the same person created multiple accounts and kept replying,
leaving a series of troll comments.
Supportive comments are always great.
But antis?
They actually boost the view count.
If someone keeps returning to comment, that means the post stayed on their mind.
Of course, rude or off-topic comments aren’t pleasant,
but they weren’t real discussion—just graffiti.
So I ignored them.
One thing I strongly believe:
People tend to attack what they don’t understand.
Reddit is full of different cultures and personalities.
Some enjoy criticism as entertainment.
That’s fine it’s their hobby.
Just don’t drag me into it more than necessary（笑）
Chapter 5 Inside Pokémon Center: A Multilingual Chaos
Once inside, the usual scene welcomed me.
Since I visit Pokémon Center almost every day,
I always notice when new items are stocked.
On weekends, the shelves empty quickly.
People from many countries mix together,
and you hear multiple languages all around you it’s chaotic in a fun way.
And the staff?
Their hospitality is incredible.
They smile like Disneyland cast members,
even though the crowd is exhausting.
I honestly sympathize with them.
Chapter 6 Purchase Limits and What’s Still Available
My goal this time was to pick up Pokémon goods and card packs
requested by customers.
Here were the limits at the Pokémon Center:
- Mega Dream ex — 1 pack per person
- Tera Festival ex — Sold out
- Cyber Judge — Up to 5 boxes per person
Cyber Judge contains famous cards like:
・Bell’s Sincerity SAR #097
・Iron Hands SAR #094
It hasn’t been very popular in Japan, so boxes are still available.
But I think we’re nearing the end of the print run,
so I bought some for investment.

And honestly, with today’s demand?
“Being able to buy anything at all is already lucky.”
People say Pokémon should simply print more,
but it’s a business.
We enjoy the hobby within their rules.
Chapter 7 Pack Opening and My “Pokémon Center Luck”
Since I visited with family,
I bought goods and some packs for personal opening.
This may sound strange, but…
packs purchased at Pokémon Center tend to have good pulls at least for me.
If you spend around ¥2,200 (≈ $14)
and pull even one SAR, you break even.
That’s just the reality of the secondary market.
Recently, more customers request loose packs rather than boxes,
so I’ve been shipping real, freshly purchased packs as well.
There is no magic secret.
If you want something easily,
you pay a premium.
Simple as that.
Chapter 8 One Piece Limited Store Cards: An Unexpected Development
The limited-edition One Piece cards I wrote about earlier
ended up drawing far more attention than expected.
The store completely stopped sales,
because too many people rushed in.
The price?
Originally around $64.
Now? Nearly triple.
Luckily, I secured 12 sets before the halt,
so the people who ordered from me were extremely happy.
Their purchase price is already below market.
Being “in the right place at the right time” matters more than people think.
Chapter 9 What This Trip Tells Us About Japan and the Market
To some readers, this might look like an ordinary outing.
But depending on your country and culture,
some things may feel unusual.
Japan’s Pokémon culture,
the purchasing limits,
the crowd behavior,
the ease of access,
and even how stores restock It’s all part of a unique ecosystem.
My priority is always the enjoyment and benefit of the buyer.
This is business, yes,
but it must also be fun.
