How Japan’s “All Applicants Service” Works: The One Piece Ace, Sabo & Luffy Starter Deck

If you are a One Piece fan, many of you may already know that Weekly Shonen Jump is running an “All Applicants Service” campaign.
Weekly Shonen Jump release date: December 22, 2025. Price: 330 JPY (approximately $2 USD). Application deadline: January 13, 2026. The deck included in this campaign is the Start Deck featuring Ace, Sabo, and Luffy, with shipment scheduled for late May 2026.

To apply, you must use the special application postcard included in the magazine itself. In today’s world, online applications are the norm, but Weekly Shonen Jump has long maintained this system where simply purchasing the physical magazine allows everyone to apply for exclusive items. This situation is similar overseas, but as magazines sell less and digital formats become dominant, publishers are now required to add extra value beyond the magazine alone in order to survive.

Personally, I grew up reading Weekly Shonen Jump from childhood and was raised watching series that many of you know well, such as Dragon Ball. Cutting out an application form from a magazine, attaching it to a postcard, and mailing it feels very analog, nostalgic, and surprisingly fresh in modern times.

In addition to the start deck application, this issue also includes a special booklet titled ONE PIECE mini magazine.” The contents are kept secret, but it is something that even overseas fans can enjoy.

Many people follow One Piece cards through online marketplaces or non-Japanese information websites. However, I wanted to share something more real and closer to what is actually happening in Japan. Although the start deck (Ace, Sabo, and Luffy) has not yet arrived in my hands, I decided to share the Weekly Shonen Jump information first.

Recently, One Piece cards have become very expensive overseas. Compared to international prices, Japan is still relatively affordable, and cards that also exist in English versions tend to be more reasonably priced. However, Japan-exclusive items and promotional releases like this one are different. Due to strong early demand, the magazine has already sold out in many stores, and immediately after selling out, the prices of the application vouchers have gradually started to rise.

If you are interested in obtaining this start deck set, please contact me. Quantities are limited, but I do have a small allocation available.
